New Features

In-App Support

With the release of 7.50, Opus 2 introduces a new way to deliver in-app support to all end-users. This comes in three formats:

  • In-App Resource Centre,
  • In-App Functionality Guidance and Tool Tips,
  • In-App Alerts and Warnings.

Resource Centre

Product Support for the platform has traditionally been provided in PDF format or via the secondary support site – magnumsupport-uk.opus2.com. With the release of Opus 2 version 7.5, we are merging this functionality into the Opus 2 product itself.

On login, users will now see a new icon in their global navigation bar, and by clicking this they will launch the Opus 2 Resource Centre.

As you can see, the resource centre fetches all support guidance and displays it in-app to the end-user. They are fed contextual guides for that page and can search across all of the user guidance manually.

Opus 2 understands that end-users will always prefer to self-serve with support, and we believe this new functionality is the beginning of bringing that methodology into the Opus 2 platform. We hope this will reduce end-user support queries for training and supporting teams alike.

However, the Resource Centre is not just for displaying User Guides – in fact, we have the ability to deploy:

  • Best Practice Workflows,
  • Onboarding Guidance,
  • Custom Integrations.

Functionality Guidance / Tool Tips

Further to the resource centre, we can also deploy interactive tool tips and in-app guides to drive feature adoption and remind users of best practices, reducing support queries.

One example of an in-app tool tip could be a new feature announcement – for example, Chronology Timeline, whereby on the user’s first access to the tool, they would be presented with the following feature notification:

We also take this a step further - with full walkthroughs of new functionality available to users if they wish, prompted on first launch of the new tool or relaunched using the resource centre, for example, a walkthrough on Timeline would be shown like so:

Alerts and Notifications

As part of our on-going commitment to bring efficiency to the support messaging processes, 7.5 also brings the ability to display fully customisable maintenance alerts to users – reducing the need for email list communication.

New Document / Chronology Filter Tool

With the release of 7.5, Opus 2 is pleased to enable a new Filter tool on both the Documents and Chronology page which enhances a user's ability to filter information with more complex parameters. As an example, you can use the 'AND' functionality to show all documents on a certain date that contain links.

You also now have the ability to filter on custom fields in your chronology.

New Drafting Tools

Users can now copy bespoke stamp information - such as the Disclosure ID or Bundle, Tab and Page - from documents directly to their clipboard, allowing for easier offline document drafting, with Opus 2 hyperlink ready references.

These quick-click options can be found on the document toolbar and from within the clipboard view on the annotation dialogue, as shown below.  Please ask Opus 2 support for guidance on setting these tools up to best suit your needs.

Revised Email Ingestion

Upon ingestion to the platform, metadata will be automatically extracted from email files in order to reduce the amount of manual intervention needed by legal teams.  The extracted metadata fields include:

  • Email Date & Time
  • Email To
  • Email From
  • Email Subject
  • Email CC & BCC
  • Email Document ID

Further to this, emails with attachments are given a Parent ID and Sort Date field - allowing for the organisation and review of Emails and their attached Documents in an easy manner.

Feature Improvements

Chronology Improvements

We've made improvements to Chronology, including but not limited to:

  • Large dataset Importing / exporting / loading,
  • Import of Windows-1252 Characters is retained,
  • Chronologies are shown in date order,
  • Chronology Filter (see above).

Search Results - Context Lines and Upload Date

Users can now set custom context lines on search results on the platform, as well as view the metadata field "Upload Date" all within the Search Page.

Default Tag Colour Selection

To make colour scheme's consistent and easier to maintain, we've now introduced a set colour palette across the platform in folder and tag colour creation.

Auto-Play in Browser (MP4)

For all new workspaces on the platform, any MP4 videos uploaded will now be playable in the platform itself, without having to download the file:

For historic workspaces, this is available under the settings tab available to admins.

Bulk Tag Annotations

In the same way that users can bulk share annotations on the Notes page, they can now bulk apply note tags.

Bug Fixes

Alongside new features and improvements to the existing functionality, we have also fixed a number of bugs relating to chronology and characters. If you have any questions about what has been resolved, please contact Opus 2 support.
